The Open University in the United Kingdom is inviting applications from interested and eligible candidates for their PhD studentships available at the Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) of the school. The Fully Funded PhD Studentships are open to both domestic and overseas students.
Several full-time three-year and four-year EPSRC PhD studentships in mathematics and statistics are available, commencing 1 October 2022. Studentships cover fees, include a stipend (£15,609 per annum in 2020–2021 for full-time study, plus £1250 annual travel allowance).

Several research projects will be available, covering topics in pure and applied mathematics, theoretical physics and statistics. The University particularly welcomed applications from women. The School ensures that every female PhD student is allocated a female member of staff as a point of contact and organises networking events for female academic staff and PhD students.
To be eligible for The Open University PhD Studentship and STEM Scholarships, you are expected to meet the following conditions:
- Applicants must be either domestic or international students
- Open for PhD students
- Applicants must enroll in a full-time PhD program
- Applicants must have a Masters degree certificate in the related discipline
- Applicants must have a bachelor degree in related discipline
- Applicants that is not majority English-speaking must hold a Secure English Language Test (SELT) certificate equivalent.
